Huckabee Declares - "I'm Still Standing!"
Governor Huckabee continued to surprise pollsters and pundits this last Saturday with a hug 3-1 victory in Kansas and another southern state victory in Lousiana. Huckabee has recently said that he didn't major in math, but instead "majored in miracles."
In a new Time Magazine article, the continued story behind the Miracle Man is highlighted.
The tornadoes touched down last week in Brandenburg, Kentucky, and the yard sign was stuck in the lawn of one of his supporters. "A Mike Huckabee yard sign," he told the crowd Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C., where his rival Mitt Romney had quit his campaign only two days earlier. The wind damaged a nearby home, but the sign didn't budge, Huckabee told the crowd. "Standing pristine without a hint of damage, even leaning, was that yard sign," he said. "Folks, I want you to know across America, everywhere there is a vote still to be cast, I'm still standing."
Huckabee Only Needs 59% Of Remaining Delegates To Bring Nomination To Ballot At Republican Convention
In the video below, there is a great explanation by HucksArmy.com regarding the actual math for Mike Huckabee to have an opportunity to win the GOP nomination.
Karl Rove recently stated that Huckabee would need 83% of the remaining delegates - that is true for Huckabee to get the required 1191 to seal the nomination before the convention. However, Huckabee only needs to win 59% of the remaining delegates to block John McCain from clinching before the convention. In this scenario, after the first round of voting, most of the delegates would be released and could vote for any candidate after that.
The last time the Republicans had a brokered convention was in 1976 when Ronald Reagan stayed in the race against Gerald Ford. Ford ended up with the nomination and lost the general election. Reagan came back in 1980 and the rest is history.
The political pundits are pretty much assuming that the Democrats will go to a brokered convention because of the virtual tie between Clinton and Obama. A similar scenario could definitely play out for the Republicans as well, especially since McCain is having great difficulty appealing to the Republican conservative base.

Has to be one of the most bizarre comments in this election cycle - Push Polling Response by Mike Huckabee
If anyone needs to take responsibility, it would be John McCain whose McCain-Feingold finance act creates that nonsense.
I think that was one of the worst things that ever happened in campaign election law.
You know, I’m not going to jail so I can make contact, tell these people privately what I’ve told them publicly: If you’re doing pushcalling, you’re hurting us. I think I’ve made that clear. I think it hurt us in South Carolina; I think in New Hampshire, I think it hurt us in Iowa. So, I’ll say it again: I think pushpolling is a deplorable, despicable way to campaign. If someone things they’re helping us, they’re not. If they want to spend their money, there are a lot of other ways for it to be spent that would be helpful, this isn’t. Now, I can’t say that to them, because under McCain Feingold, I’m not allowed to have any coordination with them.
If Sen. McCain hadn’t pushed that bill through and created a stifling of free speech for some groups but an opening for others, we wouldn’t be having this discussion today. So for his people to call on me to stop it? Has to be one of the most bizarre comments in this election cycle. - Mike Huckabee
For Mike Huckabee, John McCain And Republican Party Competition is Good
“So instead of asking me to get out, the Republicans ought to be begging me to stay in so that we still have a contest going on – something you guys ought to be watching.” - Mike Huckabee
“Because you know and I know if I were to drop out today, nobody would be paying attention to any Republican until the Obama-Hillary race is settled.” - Mike Huckabee
“If competition in the marketplace is what creates a strong economy, wouldn’t competition in the political marketplace create a stronger political environment in which to function. It, to me, is an absolute defiance of the basic, most essential Republican principle – that we are somehow better off if we just don’t have any competition. “ - Mike Huckabee
Mike Huckabee Understands Many Factors For Republican Nomination
“Let’s say we get to the convention and Romney releases his delegates,” he said. “They can come towards me. There’s also a lot of factors that can happen. Any given day, a candidate can say one word, and it gets YouTubed, and his campaign’s done." - Mike Huckabee
“The one thing, I know, isn’t it a very complicated process for you to win? The answer is yes. But, you know, it’s a very simply way to lose. I can just quit.” - Mike Huckabee
“Conservatives in the Republican Party ought to have a choice for somebody who is unapologetically, 100 percent, without any flinching at all, pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, and pro-Fair Tax and pro-secure borders." - Mike Huckabee

Huck And Chuck Appear For 2000 In Des Moines: Huckabee Campaign Retains Momentum Going In To Iowa Caucus
Huck and Chuck put on a great show at the Val Air ballroom in Des Moines on Tuesday night to jumpstart the new year.
DES MOINES – Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) put on a show here Tuesday night, and, in what could be a good sign for his campaign, he had a huge crowd to perform for. Huckabee played bass guitar with a local band and he surprised many by pulling MSNBC host and former Rep. Joe Scarborough (R-Fla.) on stage to play along.
Huckabee said there were an estimated 2,000 attendees at the Val Air Ballroom, where the former governor was joined by his wife and Chuck Norris. Huckabee supporters said before the event they were thrilled by the crowd size given the near-zero temperatures outside.
Huckabee said there were an estimated 2,000 attendees at the Val Air Ballroom, where the former governor was joined by his wife and Chuck Norris. Huckabee supporters said before the event they were thrilled by the crowd size given the near-zero temperatures outside.
Norris announced that he and his wife will host a virtual barbeque fundraiser for Huckabee on Jan. 20, with a goal of raising $10 million. Huckabee faces a series of crucial test before then, beginning with the Iowa caucuses Thursday night.
The former governor and the rest of the candidates spent the day campaigning hard across the state, pushing for last minute support and pleading with audiences to show up and caucus.
“I would consider it the highest honor of my life if you would give me the opportunity not to rule, but to serve,” Huckabee said.
Most polls continue to show Huckabee leading former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney among Republicans in Iowa.
In a small departure from most of Huckabee’s campaign events, his wife, Janet, took the stage to address the crowd and introduce the band.
“I can’t wait to be your first lady because I think it is going to be too cool, and we are going to have too much fun,” Janet Huckabee said.
The crowd was enthused throughout the event, applauding the former governor just as much if not more than Norris.
Huckabee ran through much of his platform, pledging to reshape the “ridiculous” tax code, fight for life and the traditional definition of marriage and make the country’s armed forces stronger.
“We will be a strong nation that will apologize to no one for our strength,” he said.
As he often does, the former governor drew big laughs from the crowd when he told them to tell their neighbors who might caucus for one of his rivals that they do not want to miss the Orange Bowl, which is being played the same night as the caucuses. “Shovel your snow into their driveway,” Huckabee joked. “Let the air out of their tires, disconnect their battery cable.”
Huckabee Campaign Runs Two New TV Ads Iowa And New Hampshire On Cutting Taxes And Values
Mike Huckabee is now running two new ads in Iowa and New Hampshire called "Tax Cuts Matter" and "Our Values."
Here are the scripts for the new television ads:

Gov. Huckabee on Camera and Voice-over Graphics: “In a hundred and sixty years in Arkansas , we’d never really had a broad-based, wide-spread tax cut. I was able to sign the first ever. The economic policies that we did in my state, cutting taxes, streamlining government, resulted in the largest number of job creations. I cut taxes over 90 times. Balanced the budget every year I was governor. Left a surplus of nearly a billion dollars, and did it in the face of an overwhelmingly Democratic legislature. That's a pretty good record.”

“The pro-life position was the one espoused by our Founding Fathers when they said that all of us are created equal, endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights. The first one they listed was life. Nobody has a greater level of intrinsic worth or value than another person. Being unborn doesn’t make you less valuable. Maybe instead of having our values trampled all over every single day and night, we would express to America what those values are: family, life, freedom – those things matter to us. Always has, always will."
Mike Huckabee Announces Co-Chairmen of Florida Leadership Team: Daniel Webster And Marco Rubio Endorse Huckabee
Former Arkansas Governor and Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has named Florida Senate Majority Leader Daniel Webster and Speaker of the House Marco Rubio co-chairmen of his Florida campaign organization. "Senator Webster and Speaker Rubio are incredible assets to my Florida campaign," Huckabee said. "Both are esteemed legislators and have been exceptional leaders for the people of Florida ."
Webster is a former state House speaker who has become a nationally respected conservative politician during his 28 years in the legislature. Rubio was elected Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives in November 2006. His book, 100 Innovative Ideas for Florida's Future, was compiled after Rubio traveled around Florida to gather ideas from citizens. This was done through what Rubio calls "Idearaisers."
Both these prominent legislators recently announced they were endorsing Governor Huckabee. "Mike Huckabee is our best chance to have a Reagan Republican as our nominee," Rubio said. "For those of us who want the Republican Party to continue to be the party of life, of traditional family values and of limited government, Mike Huckabee is the best choice."
The announcement comes on the heels of the latest Rasmussen Florida poll on December 14, which had Huckabee in first place with 27 percent of the vote compared to Mitt Romney's 23 percent and Rudy Giuliani's 19 percent.
"I am honored to serve as co-chairman for Governor Huckabee's Florida Presidential campaign," Webster said. "Governor Huckabee is a principled, conservative leader who has proven he has the leadership qualities to be the next president of the United States . I intend to work diligently in the days and months ahead to ensure Governor Huckabee is elected as our nation's next president." The Florida presidential primary election is January 29.
Mike Huckabee Charges Speaker Pelosi with Sending “Lump of Coal to Troops in Iraq”
This statement was released by the Mike Huckabee campaign today:
LITTLE ROCK, AR – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat leadership failed to support American troops fighting the Global War on Terrorism yesterday by passing a $515 billion omnibus spending bill that included funding for all Cabinet agencies, except the Department of Defense, and specifically did not include funding for the Iraq war. The bill, passed in a hurry so Congress can go home for Christmas, allows spending to support our troops in Afghanistan, but not in Iraq.
“Last night, Speaker Pelosi and her fellow Democrats passed a spending bill that concealed a lump of coal for our troops serving overseas in Iraq,” former Arkansas Governor and Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said. “Democrats are signaling that they are unhappy with the fact that our surge in Iraq is working. Violence is down. Order is being restored. And terrorists are learning they are not welcomed by the people of Iraq.”
The Senate is expected to add funding for the troops in Iraq in debate today. “But why is the House leadership playing politics with funding for the war?” asked Huckabee.
Additionally, the spending bill, written by Democrats and passed 253-154 with mostly Democrat votes, undermines the 2006 Secure Fence Act. That act specifically required a two-tier barrier, like the one that has worked in California; the new version downgrades the provision to require only a single-tier barrier. The Pelosi spending bill also eliminated the list of locations where the fence would be built.
“This serious reduction in security along our southern border was buried in a massive, 3,500-page bill. Nancy Pelosi hoped it would go unnoticed by the American people. Republican are serious about making our borders secure,” Huckabee said. “This effort to sneak one by the people is just another move in a continuing pattern Democrats have established to prevent resolving our illegal immigration crisis.”
Mike Huckabee Names Ed Rollins as Republican National Campaign Chairman
Former Arkansas Governor and Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee has named Republican political strategist Ed Rollins as his National Campaign Chairman.
"I am proud to announce the addition of Ed Rollins as my National Campaign Chairman," said Huckabee. "Ed is an unparalleled strategist and is well-known as the man who directed the most successful Presidential campaign in the history of the United States. Ed's experience and track record of building winning coalitions within our party, bringing together social, economic and foreign-policy conservatives, and reaching across party lines, makes him a good fit for our campaign."
Rollins served as the National Campaign Director to Ronald Reagan in the 1984 presidential election in which Reagan won 49 states.
"I am honored to be joining Governor Huckabee's remarkable campaign," added Rollins. "I have always said that I want to work for candidates with convictions who can communicate those convictions. And Governor Huckabee is that candidate. He has the ability to change the political conversation in this country. Among the presidential contenders, he is also the one with the most executive experience. I look forward to working with the Governor over the coming year on the road to the White House."
Rollins served in the administrations of Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Reagan, including serving two tours of duty at the highest level of the White House as Assistant to the President and White House Political Director. His book, Bare Knuckles and Back Rooms, was the number one selling political book in America in 1996 and made the top of the New York Times and every other national best seller list. He is currently the Chairman of the Rollins Strategy Group, a communications and crisis management firm with offices in New York and Washington, D.C.
Huckabee Campaign Thanks Grassroots Supporters
As we drive across the frozen highways in southern Iowa we are buoyed by the stunning news that CBS/NY Times poll as well as a CNN poll have us statistically tied for first place in the nation with Rudy Giuliani.
The dramatic upswing in our campaign is due to the tremendous volunteer effort of the friends like you who have believed in me, not because the conventional wisdom said we would win but because your convictions said we should win. With the soaring numbers putting us past the better known and better funded candidates who have in most cases outspent us 10-1, they are now in panic mode frantically trying to brush back the efforts you have made possible.
In addition to a whirlwind of negative attacks through press releases as well as being the target of the first negative attack television ad in the Republican cycle we are bombarded by attempts in the press to do media dumpster diving and surface any negative twists that my long time political opponents operating the Clinton machine in Arkansas have done.
We have repeatedly asked you and you have repeatedly responded with sacrificial contributions. Just last week in South Carolina a precious little 4 year old girl came to me at a campaign event and put in my hands three nickels and two dimes and said I want you to be president. While the amount of money may not buy a television ad to respond to these harsh attacks it fueled my enthusiasm as if it were a $2000 contribution.
